Refunds & Returns Policy

Thank you for shopping with Basic Bookish. Because we use print-on-demand fulfillment, our refund and return practices are a little different than traditional retail. This policy explains when we offer refunds or replacements, and what we expect from our customers.

1. Made-to-Order & “No Returns for Preference or Error”

  • All items are custom printed on demand when ordered — there is no inventory.

  • Because of this, we cannot accept returns, exchanges, or refunds if:

    • You ordered the wrong size or color,

    • You simply changed your mind or no longer want the item, or

    • There was a mistake in what you chose at checkout (unless we agree in writing to a special exception).

  • Please double-check sizing, color, and order details before you confirm your purchase.

2. When Refunds or Replacements Are Available

We offer refunds or free reprints only under the following conditions:

  • The item arrives damaged, defective, or misprinted, or there was a production or fulfillment error (wrong design, wrong item, print defect, significant shipping damage).

  • You must report the issue within 30 days of delivery.

  • Provide clear photos showing the defect or damage, along with your order number/details when contacting us. If eligible, you may choose either:

  • A free replacement / reprint of the item, or

  • A full refund (or store credit), depending on what’s feasible.

You do not need to return the defective item in most cases. 

3. Non-Defective Issues, Lost or Undelivered Orders

  • If delivery fails because of an incorrect address the customer provided, or the package is returned to sender, we may offer a partial refund or re-ship for a fee — depending on the situation.

  • If the product was delivered (according to shipping records) but you report non-receipt, we’ll investigate — we may refuse a refund if tracking shows the package was delivered.

4. How to Request a Refund / Reprint

To request a refund or reprint:

  1. Email us at hello@basicbookish.com with subject: 

    • “Order Issue – Refund/Replacement Request”

  2. Include:

    • Your order number

    • A description of the issue (damage, defect, etc.)

    • Clear photographs of the item (front, back, close-ups if defect) and packaging/label showing possible damage from shipping

  3. We’ll respond within 5 business days to review your request and issue a resolution.

5. Disclaimer on Color / Print Variations

Because products are printed on demand, actual colors and print placement can vary slightly from what is shown on screen or in mockups. Minor variations in color shade or print placement are not considered defects and are not eligible for refund or reprint.

6. Sale Items, Gift Cards, and Digital Products

  • Sale items are subject to the same policy above (no change-of-mind returns).

  • Gift cards, digital products, or any “non-physical” goods are final sale and non-refundable.

  • If a digital product fails to deliver due to our error, we’ll correct the issue or refund at our discretion.

7. Limitation of Liability

Basic Bookish is not responsible for any lost or damaged items due to misuse, improper sizing after wear, normal wear and tear, or damage caused by the customer. We only cover manufacturing or fulfillment errors per this policy.

8. Updates to This Policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Refunds & Returns Policy at any time. Any changes will apply to orders placed after the policy update date.
