A Little Buzzed by Alys Murray is a steamy workplace romantic comedy about Scout Porter, the ambitious chief engineer at BuzzCorp, a sex-toy startup, whose carefully work-first life is shaken when her coworkers learn that she has little real-world sexual experience. Determined to move past a painful relationship and keep attention on the company’s upcoming launch, Scout makes a strictly practical arrangement with Hudson Bailey, BuzzCorp’s charming, bookish new software developer, who needs firsthand knowledge to help develop the app for her latest product. What starts as a supposedly professional experiment soon challenges both of their boundaries, leaving them to navigate workplace complications, old wounds, and feelings neither intended to develop.

Jamie’s review

I read this mainly because Navessa Allen said it was great and I do what Navessa Allen tells me to do 🫡 It was okay. It's about a rocket scientist who has a project literally blow up and so she goes to work at a sex toy company, but she's a virgin. So, it's extremely spicy if you can imagine.

It felt like it was trying to be an Ali Hazelwood book (with the women in STEM and the banter) but it was trying a little too hard. The humor didn't feel natural, like something people actually would say. Every sentence felt reworked to the point of confusion.

It also got repetitive. How many times can Scout and Hudson "test" different products….?

Started out fun but by the end, I didn't really care anymore. But if you want a spicy book, this is that!
