Seasons of Carnage by Brynne Weaver is a dark romance trilogy kicking off with Tourist Season, set in the quirky coastal town of Cape Carnage, Maine, where skilled gardener Harper Starling fiercely protects her sanctuary and aging mentor by eliminating troublesome tourists who threaten the idyllic community. Vengeful newcomer Nolan Rhodes arrives seeking revenge against Harper for a hit-and-run that killed his brother, only to find her far from the monster he expected, forcing an uneasy alliance when an amateur true-crime investigator threatens to expose their secrets. As their enemies-to-lovers tension builds amid mutual obsessions, steamy encounters, and moral gray areas, they navigate past traumas, small-town conspiracies, and the blurred lines between hatred and passion in a tale blending humor, horror, and twisted affection.

Jamie’s review

Fun new deranged dark romance for us weirdo girlies! This is the same author that did Butcher & Blackbird. I really enjoyed B&B but I LOVED Tourist Season. It's so campy and so good, you guys!

Harper and Nolan are reluctant allies that discover they have shared interests. Their obsessions and need for revenge make for a twisted relationship at best, and a deadly one at worst.

It's dark and a bit gory but also hilarious and the tension between Harper and Nolan is off the charts. SO FUN. I could not put this down. Still some Dexter vibes, it's kind of Brynne Weaver's thing.

Ruinous Love tapered off for me so really hoping the next two books are just as good as this one!

Erica’s review

Do I like some gore? Apparently! I read this in 2 days - right before Halloween and it couldn't have been a more perfect book for a Spooky Season. Obsessed. If your jam was I Know What You Did Last Summer - you will DIE for this (yes, another pun intended 🫣). It had me laughing out loud with the banter, scrunching my nose with the gore, (it's not too bad), and fanning myself over the spicy scenes (I'm thinking of the Blanche GIF - IYKYK).

The mystery of how Nolan and Harper both turn up in Cape Carnage is great and full of twists you can't put this down. This would also be a great mood read heading into summer because it takes place end of June/early July - just the like movie I mentioned above. It does end of a little cliffhanger (sigh…..my mortal enemy), but I'm very excited for Harvest Season to come out June 2026! If you like dark romance, some gore, H.O.T spice and to LOL - pick this up stat!
