Wayward Pines by Blake Crouch is a thriller trilogy beginning with Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arriving in the idyllic but eerie small town of Wayward Pines, Idaho, to investigate two missing federal agents, only to find himself trapped by invisible barriers and a community enforcing strict, unexplained rules under threat of deadly punishment. As Ethan uncovers layers of deception involving a secretive founder, monstrous creatures beyond the town's perimeter, and a post-apocalyptic truth about humanity's survival, he grapples with leadership, family reunion, and the moral cost of maintaining fragile order in isolation. The series builds escalating tension across Pines, Wayward, and The Last Town, exploring control, rebellion, and human nature without revealing key revelations.

Jamie’s review

Added the Wayward Pines trilogy to my TBR after Brady Lockerby said it was her favorite series she read in 2024 and I get why. WOW. 🤯

It's Sci-Fi/Mystery/Thriller and let me tell you, mind bendy edge of your seat intensity. I had a REALLY hard time putting these down. The books are short, could easily be one book. But the character development is SO good and all the moral dilemmas are SO well done.

You follow Ethan Burke, a secret service agent, who wakes up in Wayward Pines, Idaho (of all places!) and finds he cannot leave. He unravels the horrors and secrets of the town and it's residents. I was sad when it ended. I became very invested in this psycho little town. Highly recommend!
