Letters of Enchantment by Rebecca Ross is a romantasy duology comprising Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, set in a war-torn world where ancient gods Enva and Dacre clash, their conflict spilling into human realms filled with mythical creatures and divine magic. Aspiring journalist Iris Winnow, from the struggling town of Oath, writes letters to her missing soldier brother Forest that magically reach her rival at the Oath Gazette, the aloof heir Roman Kitt, forging an anonymous bond of vulnerability and wit amid her battles with grief, poverty, and a mother's addiction. As Iris ventures to the front lines as a war correspondent with friend Attie, their evolving enemies-to-lovers connection intertwines with perilous quests, godly intrigues, forgotten lore, and themes of love's endurance, the power of words, and quiet strength in chaos.

Jamie’s review

Disclaimer I have not read the prequel yet (Wild Reverence). This series surprised me with how endearing it was! There's a way between Gods and like all war stories, it's tragic and beautiful.

Iris and Roman are reporters turned war correspondents and end up playing key parts in the war. I loved the magical elements sprinkled in but it didn't feel overly fantasy. It feels like historical fiction. It feels like a well written love story during war times.

It got a little in the weeds with the side characters, which wasn't necessarily bad. I love a good side character. But it slowed the pace and became a little distracting for me. Also, zero spice, which is fiiiiiiine I guess 😉

A very sweet G rated story that will hit you in the feels.
