Fae & Alchemy by Callie Hart is a dark romantasy series launching with Quicksilver, where cunning thief Saeris Fane survives in the harsh desert kingdom of Allyria by stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs, hiding her rare ability to manipulate quicksilver—a sentient, volatile alchemical substance punishable by death. A botched heist catapults her through a reopened gateway into the frozen fae realm of Yvelia, binding her fate to the brooding warrior Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate, a morally gray "Death Dealer" with murky motives who needs her powers to combat vampire hordes and ancient curses. Thrust into wars, labyrinthine traps, and uneasy alliances with his cadre amid betrayals and godly encounters, Saeris grapples with her awakening magic, forbidden desire, and the cost of survival in a world of elemental fae, undead threats, and razor-sharp banter.

Jamie’s review
K I need everyone to stop what they are doing and read Quicksilver. Immediately. This is my roman empire. I need to talk about it! Help me help you!
I could not put this book down. It has everything. Humor, suspense, world building, amazing enemies to lovers, SPICE. GAH! Join me in this obsession with Kingfisher, Saeris, and their homies. 🙏🏼 I am not even mad that I read ANOTHER unfinished series because it’s THAT GOOD. No notes. Just trust me. Thank you, Callie, for blessing us with Kingfisher and his dirty, dirty mouth.
BRIMSTONE———————
Listen, sequels are hard. I had SUCH high expectations for Brimstone. And it didn't quiiiiite live up to them.
The good: Kingfisher and Saeris are still goals, the side characters are still excellent, Carrion is still a menace and I love him. The dynamics with the Vampires: awesome. The creepy scene involving Everlayne: loved it. The SPICE is top tier and the Hazrax is fantastically strange.
The not so good: the pacing was off for me. It would fluctuate between slow and dragging to quick and abrupt. Lots of side quests that didn't feel like they moved the plot forward. I am left with a lot of questions and confusion. The book felt a bit like filler content and was too long.
I liked it, but not nearly as much as Quicksilver. I am hoping book 3 brings it all together. But Brimstone brought my overall series rating down from a 5 to a 4.5 - still love and highly recommend this series.

Erica’s review
Jamie force-fed me this book and I am not mad about it. I promise I will stop being anti unfinished series (maybe) but I was still heavily completed series ONLY when she made me read this. Her selling point: it doesn’t end on a super suspenseful cliffhanger and she didn’t do me dirty. We definitely desperately want book 2 in our hands, like now, but we didn’t want to throw our book across the room because we didn’t have it when book 1 finished.
But boy do we miss Kingfisher, Saeris and I even miss Carrion! This book has it all! Fae, Vamps, a badass FMC, Shadow Daddy, true enemies to lovers, amazing spice, fabulous banter and great battle scenes (that don’t drag on forever). Oh! And some great twists that have you turning those pages. Well done Callie – cannot wait for the rest!
BRIMSTONE———————
Boy oh boy. Book 2. What to say. What not to say? 🫣 I still love the characters and loved that we got to know them all even better! I do really enjoy how there is decent world building, but not too much to be overwhelming. Carrion is still a kick in pants. Per ushhhhh.
What not to say? Man. Let’s start with the fact that I read Quicksilver in 3 days and I read Brimstone in one month. That should say plenty. This was a whole lottttta nothing. I guess I’m assuming this was just like a giant bridge book? There was so much I struggled with in this book but can’t say because I don’t want to spoil it. And I’m utterly confused about the way it ended. Was that a cliffhanger? Kind of? What even was that?
Will I continue onto the next book? Absolutely! I am still obsessed with the characters and overallness of the books (yes I said overallness….), but book 2 was not it for me. I went from 5 stars down to 4. Hoping book 3 pops me back up!
