Heartstrings by B.K. Borison is a contemporary romance duology inspired by classic films like Sleepless in Seattle, kicking off with First-Time Caller where jaded radio host Aiden Valentine, disillusioned with love despite running Baltimore's romance hotline, goes viral after a young girl's call seeking dating advice for her single mom, auto mechanic Lucie Stone. Lucie, content with her blended family life alongside her daughter's two dads who are now best friends, gets thrust into the spotlight as listeners push her toward romance, sparking undeniable chemistry with Aiden during on-air segments and behind-the-scenes moments. The second book, And Now, Back to You, pairs rival meteorologists Jackson Clark and Delilah Stewart, forced to collaborate on a massive snowstorm coverage, trading barbs between his structured studio life and her field adventures until shared challenges melt into opposites-attract friendship and more. Both deliver cozy banter, emotional growth, found family vibes, and heartfelt explorations of rediscovering joy in unexpected connections.

Jamie’s review

Infinity stars. I laughed so much. I felt all the feels. What a blessing of a book.

Aiden works at a radio station in Baltimore when a preteen named Maya calls in asking for dating advice for her mom, Lucie. The sound byte goes viral and Lucie agrees to let the station help her find love. Except everyone listening can tell Aiden is in to her.

I loved the single mom trope (relatable AF). I loved the banter. I loved the real life issues, found family, work family, awkward dating moments, I loved it all! So heartwarming. And the TENSION! And the 🌶️! READ ASAP

Erica’s review

Ok - I don't want to enrage anyone because I REALLY did love this book. I love her writing - it's some of the best flirt/banter writing I've ever read. I loved the slow burn, the spice was top tier….so much was SO good. And listen, we ALL know I'm an idiot and in NO way could I come close to writing a damn book. NO. WAY. And really, overall I'm an easy critic. But I have a bone to pick, and it's kind of a big one….buckle up. 😬

Even though its well known this book was inspired by Sleepless in Seattle (its the first part even in her Acknowledgments), "Inspired" is gracious IMO. I feel like the main plot is a copycat of the movie with very minimal tweaks. Especially in how the FMC and MMC connect in the beginning. And, that really bothered me. I watch SiS every single year, multiple times, so I'd also consider myself a huge fan, so maybe that's why - I must consider it sacred ground?! IDK what my actual issue is with that form of "inspiration" because I realize there is so much "copying" at this point in our Romantasy genre as a whole. This just was a bit too much of a carbon copy for me I think. All THAT being said - I still loved it and you will too, especially if you love Sleepless in Seattle.
