The Bewitched series by Laura Thalassa is a dark, high-stakes paranormal romantasy about Selene Bowers, a young witch determined to earn a place at an elite coven despite the devastating cost of her magic: every spell strips away part of her memory. During a magical quest, Selene accidentally awakens Memnon the Cursed, an ancient and powerful figure who believes she is someone from his past, tying her fate to his in ways she cannot fully remember or understand. Set amid a witch academy where danger and suspicion escalate, the series combines forbidden attraction, mystery, memory loss, morally gray characters, ancient magic, and an obsessive, enemies-to-lovers-style romance.

Jamie’s review

I have conflicting thoughts. The books absolutely got better, but book 1 was so rough I considered DNF'ing. It was the writing style for me. The use of casual modern day cheesy slang mixed with 2000 year old ancient dialect REALLY threw me. But that's kind of Laura Thalassa's thing.

It's 99% from Selene's POV and her inner thoughts being "cool beans" and "my coochie" and "watch it, bro" was not it. I STRONGLY disliked that.

But then on the other hand, the story itself about witches and reincarnation and curses and spells, I was thoroughly entertained! And #MemnontheCursed is the morally black book boyfriend of our dreams. 🫶🏼

All in all, this is a very spicy, very good time. If you can look past the writing style, that is. You need to be a vibes reader to enjoy this one. Also, fun appearance by the Bargainer! CROSSOVER EPISODE 🎉🤣
