Artefacts of Ouranos by Nisha J. Tuli is an epic romantasy series centered on seven sentient magical artifacts created by the god Empyrean to maintain balance across the continent's kingdoms, each ensuring fair rule, magical stability, and environmental protection while choosing worthy rulers through intricate checks and balances. The story follows Lor, a human prisoner enduring years of torment who is unexpectedly thrust into the deadly Sun Queen Trials, competing against rivals for the heart of the Sun King to win freedom and revenge, only to uncover her hidden heritage, volatile powers, and ties to ancient prophecies amid court intrigue, betrayals, and forbidden romance. As Lor navigates alliances with princes like Nadir, hunts for the artifacts' secrets, and confronts power-hungry monarchs exploiting loopholes in the system, the saga escalates into war and moral dilemmas across books like Trial of the Sun Queen, Rule of the Aurora King, Fate of the Sun King, and Tale of the Heart Queen, without revealing resolutions to the crowns, curses, or her destiny.

Jamie’s review

Here is Erica and I's text thread while buddy reading this series:

"OMG SO GOOD" "Love Lor and Nadir" "Kind of ACOTAR coded" "Tamlin vibes!! 🚩" "Kind of copying Zodiac Academy" "HATE the end of book 3" "Ugh I'm annoyed" "Book 4 is hard" 🤭

I really loved this series until the last 10% of book 3 and then things just went downhill for me. Nadir is top tier 🔥 Lor is impulsive and violent so naturally I love her. But I had a hard time caring about all the ancestor POV's. Every time it was a Rion chapter, I was like 😴😴😴

I mostly enjoyed this series, even if it felt like dejavue from other series and even if the magic system never really made sense. If you want a somewhat predictable romantasy with all the main ingredients, this will fit the bill!

Welp - see Jamie and my text thread above and that sums it up! It literally starts out SO strong and the opening line is "Bitch stole my soap!" Um - SOLD! This has all of our favorite tropes and also is like if Hunger Games and The Bachelor had a little book baby. Lor is a top tier FMC and Nadir is yum! But like Jamie said - the POV would weirdly switch and I would hate it and start skim reading and be annoyed. I just didn't want that POV and didn't feel like we needed it.

I did feel like it took a lot from other popular series - but LBH….it's kind of hard not to these days. I was SO excited when I started this series and had high hopes, there really is a lot of great stuff in here, but it fell flat for me at the end. It's a completed series so 👌 and a nice little 4 booker and if you don't have a ridiculous TBR or only read completed series (sigh….my good old days), pick this up and give it a go!
