Luckiest Girl Alive follows Ani FaNelli, a 28‑year‑old New York magazine writer who appears to have it all: a glamorous job, designer wardrobe, and a wealthy, blue‑blood fiancé. Beneath that polished surface, she is still haunted by deeply traumatic events from her elite high school years, including a shattering public humiliation and a violent tragedy that made national news. When a true‑crime documentary asks her to revisit what happened, Ani must decide whether to protect the perfect life she has constructed or finally tell the truth, forcing her to confront questions of identity, ambition, and what it really means to survive.

Jamie’s review

I read this years ago and the fact that I can only remember one of the traumatic events in this traumatic event-riddled book without having to google a summary…. speaks for itself. The characters are not particularly likable, and I know it's because of the coping mechanisms and long term effects of PTSD but the author did not do enough for me to empathize or relate at all. I can't remember any upsides. But I do remember how devastating and gripping that scene was. And that has stayed with me.

Erica’s review

Check yo triggers friends. It's a lot packed in there. So basically - opposite of the luckiest girl alive in a nutshell. It kept me reading but it was heavy with a lot of things not great for women and flashbacks of terrible things that happened in her high school life. All of which are being drug back up. It was super popular and even made into a movie (that I didn't see) so give it a go if you are into that sort of thing. I wasn't blown away.
