Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe follows 19-year-old Margo Millet, daughter of a Hooters waitress and an estranged pro wrestler, who becomes pregnant after a brief affair with her married college professor and chooses to keep the baby despite pressure to abort. Alone, unemployed, and facing eviction with newborn son Bodhi, she turns to OnlyFans for income, drawing on her father's wrestling persona advice to build a savvy online presence amid judgment, doxxing, and custody threats from the baby's father. When Jinx, her unreliable dad, moves in to help with childcare while battling his own demons, their quirky bond forms an unconventional family unit, navigating motherhood's chaos, financial desperation, societal stigma, and self-empowerment in this bold, humorous tale of resilience and unconventional love.

Jamie’s review

Obsessed. I was hooked from the first paragraph. The level at which I was rooting for Margo and all the unhinged characters in her life 📣

I understand the buzz and I'm so excited for the Nicole Kidman movie adaptation!

The empathy (and maybe PTSD) I felt for Margo as she navigates young motherhood and a meager bank account. Just HOW.MANY.THINGS. are stacked against her… and how she remains hopeful, level-headed and hilarious. I love her.

The only thing that irked me was the constant switching from 3rd person POV to 1st person POV. I think it's mean to be chaotic like Margo's life, but it was distracting and I didn't like it.

Otherwise 5/5 stars. SO GOOD YOU GUYS.

Erica’s review

I can understand why people love this book - especially if you can truly relate to the single Mom aspect. Margo and her choices-out-of-spice and/or lack of emotional intelligence (yes….even being a 19 year old) didn't hit with me. I was also an idiot 19 year old but I was not making dumb ass choices like that so I had a hard time relating. BUT, I did love how much she loved her baby. That I CAN relate to as a Mom. It was a quick read and I did like the writing style but I just never really fell in love or connected with any of the characters and I wanted more of a HEA at the end. This was just a meh for me.
