This is such a beautifully written dark high fantasy, I really enjoyed it, even though I had to stare at the wall after. It's pretty dark.

Sciona is a baddie trying to prove herself as the only female highmage, reminded me a little of Lessons in Chemistry. Or my own career as a software engineer 😉

Her and her lab assistant Thomil learn the truth and cost of magic, then have to decide what to do about it. I wish there was more of a happy ending because I need more happiness in my life. But the characters and storyline make up for it.

If you're into women burning it all down and exposing corrupt governments, this one is for you 💪🏼🔥
