Where the Crawdads Sing follows Kya Clark, a girl abandoned by her family who grows up alone in the marshes of North Carolina, learning to survive by studying the wildlife that becomes her true community and refuge. As she matures, Kya’s tentative connections with two local young men pull her closer to the nearby town that has always shunned her, exposing her to both tenderness and betrayal. Years later, when one of those men is found dead, suspicion falls on the reclusive “Marsh Girl,” and the story weaves between Kya’s coming-of-age and a murder investigation that forces the town to confront its prejudice while leaving the central mystery unresolved until the end.

This book has it all - drama, suspense, romance, coming of age, a flawed protagonist you can root for! I read it quite awhile ago and still think about it. The story and characters stay with you and the twist at the end is just *chefs kiss*! Infinity stars.

Easy 5 star read for me. I was drawn in so quickly to this story and loved everything about it. It lived up to the hype and I also loved the movie - which is hard to do IMO! This has heartbreaking, mysterious, yearning-filled, and such a sad but amazing coming of age story. If you haven't gotten to this one yet - do it.
