The War of Lost Hearts by Carissa Broadbent is a dark romantasy trilogy (Daughter of No Worlds, Children of Fallen Gods, Mother of Death and Dawn) set in a war-ravaged world of rival human empires and ancient Fey threats, where former Threllian slave Tisaanah flees captivity after killing her cruel master, seeking power from the elite Orders of wielders in Ara to free her people. She strikes a tense bargain with haunted warrior Maxantarius Ferox—plagued by a parasitic entity called Reshaye—to train her magic, igniting enemies-to-lovers passion amid deadly trials, political betrayals, and escalating wars between scheming queens, rival lords, and monstrous forces. As Tisaanah grapples with her volatile abilities, moral compromises, and bonds with allies like Zeryth and Nura, Max confronts his traumatic past, weaving themes of vengeance, sacrifice, forbidden love, and redemption through brutal battles and cosmic stakes.

Jamie’s review

My husband asked if I was reading "fringe core" when he saw the titles and covers of these books 😂 Whatever that means.

Definitely pick up this series if you liked Throne of Glass and/or One Dark Window. These are the best books written by Carissa Broadbent. I said what I said! These are the best. I absolutely LOVE Tisannah and Max. The world building and character development was just *chefs kiss*

I was confused/annoyed when new characters Aefe and Caduan were introduced in book 2, but when the storylines come together, it's a nice twist!

It's very much TOG vibes but without following all the side characters (hence only 3 books instead of 8). Some parts dragged a little and there's low 🌶️ but this trilogy is very underrated and I love it.
